Today, as I hit publish on this post, I will be applying this principle, and I encourage you to do the same. For those of you that have followed my coaching and posts online, you know that we just went through a huge overhaul of re-branding. Even though there is room for improvement on the site…
I’d be doing the world and myself an injustice by not stepping out and going for this. Just like you would be too, if you choose not to step out and live your life at your fullest potential daily (regardless of your “imperfections”, circumstances, fears, and so on).
In the last 10 years of coaching clients around their nutrition and well-being, more and more clients that struggle with unwanted eating habits such as binge and emotional eating, compulsive eating, chronic dieting, and fluctuating weight come naturally to me. I’ve worked through similar challenges in my own life so it only makes sense that my calling is to help others heal in that arena.
This work lights me up because when you transform this struggle, you are free.
Ah, freedom…I really dig that shit(and realness also, hence the occasional profanity you will see on these pages. If I’d say it in speaking, I will say it here too).
So here we are, with a brand new site to support anyone struggling with a self or body love deficit, and trying to work through unwanted eating habits that they can’t seem to shake.
My mission in life is to empower others like yourself to break free of any chains and fears that are holding you back so you can step into your full purpose and be who you are meant to be.
People come to me with issues around their health, eating and weight and a total transformation ends up taking place at their core.
It’s remarkable to be a part of!
One thing I see over and over again, and I’ve been guilty of this before, is people letting their weight or how they feel about their body hold them back in their life. Unfortunately this keeps you stuck in your same pattern, and if you are a compulsive eater, oftentimes leads to more eating.
When you’re about to make a big change, or step out of your comfort zone, or go on a big venture, or risk being seen it can be scary as hell in business, life, health, love and more.
So I hold onto this principle as one of the guiding factors in my life and encourage you to do the same. If you adopt this one principle, I guarantee your life will drastically improve your health and life:
Start before you feel ready.
Have you ever said to yourself…
Once I’m this weight I’ll buy this outfit or do this… Once my legs have less cellulite I will wear this dress or go to the beach… Once I feel good about my body, I will make more love to my partner…Or once I lose this fat I will start dating again….
I have been there too. Those stories and stories like them used to rule my life.
Years ago I gave a speech to a large group of people on nutrition and lasting weight loss the day after a massive binge, a good 15-20 pounds heavier than where my body naturally looked its best and was its happiest.
It was terrifying. I felt like a fraud and cried that morning when I woke up because I felt so ashamed. I thought of EVERY EXCUSE in the book to not go…but I went.
I stood up on that stage, went into my zone and rocked it. I even recently received an email from someone who attended(years later) thanking me because it changed her life.
I had something profound to share even though I was not perfect. I know in my heart that you do too.
As scary as it may be, I promise you with every ounce of my being that it will be so worth it.
The truth is, there is no final destination. There is always room to grow and improve, and if you decide to measure your success through exterior measures (the perfect weight, perfect body, perfect diet…) you’re only setting yourself up to fail.
Once you reach your exterior “goal” if you have not healed the underlying commitment you will find something else that will hold you back from stepping into your greatness and oftentimes will return you right back to the unwanted eating habits and weight gain. This is why people who are chronic dieters gain and lose the same weight over and over again.
Breaking the pattern and examining, embracing and working through the underlying commitment and fears is the only way to heal. I can help you with that.
There is something profound about diving in and trusting yourself to adapt and grow. You, your mind and your body are absolutely brilliant and designed for acclimation. You are built to be stretched, pushed and challenged and taken to the next level.
There is something significant about celebrating your small victories through out your journey versus waiting to live until you’ve reached a final destination(and remember, there is truly no such thing as “arriving” at this place. There’s always another level).
Enjoying yourself and every bite of food is possible. Loving every inch of your body is attainable. Finding pleasure and joy in every aspect of your day is closer than you think. The victorious step off the seemingly never-ending diet-binge-guilt only to diet again cycle can be yours.
Do you know that I haven’t binged once since that day on stage? Starting before I was ready changed my life and does so daily.
It gives the true me a space to shine.
It’s your time to shine. You can be free from your battle with your body and food for good.
It would be my honor to show you how.
Health & Love,
PS: After every nugget of knowledge expect action steps to apply it to your life and kick start your healing journey. Many of my action steps will involve journaling SO if you plan on sticking around or taking your life to the next level in any way, I suggest you invest in one. They’re magic!

Action Step: Go for It
–
1) In your journal take an inventory:
Here are some prompts. I don’t recommend working on more than one or two a week. We are breaking into patterns here that have been around for years. Therefore, this should be a slow, gradual and compassionate process.
Where am I holding back in my life? Where am I waiting to live? Where am I holding back in my relationships? Where am I not speaking up? Where am I staying in my comfort zone instead of trying something I’ve been wanting to do? Where am I stuck? What aspects of myself am I ashamed of? What aspects of myself am I hiding from others?
2) Now, for each prompt, after you write it out, just be with it for 5 minutes.
Observe it. Meditate on it. Deep breathes. Witness your patterns.
Leaning into it (not wallowing around in it) is so critical here. You have to see something fully before you can re-frame and retrain it.
3) Now, switch it from observation to Love. Appreciate your shadow.
These patterns have actually been created as a protective mechanism, so don’t hate on them we just have to shine a little light on them so they’re not so in control of your behavior.
Send your shadow love. Deep breathes. Here’s an affirmation if you like those kind of things as much as I do. 5 deep breathes, repeat 5 times:
“Love did not create this, therefore it is not real. Only love is real.”
4) Now, decide on one thing you can do for that prompt that allows you to step into your light and out of your comfort zone:
For example, if you’ve realized that you hold back in groups of people because you are afraid of what someone might think or
how they will perceive you, do something small that is out of your comfort zone the next time you are in a group. Speak up, dance, crack a joke, anything.
If you haven’t been going out because you don’t feel good in your clothes buy something to hold you over in the in-between stage and go out and own it.
or it can be something as simple as standing in an elevator and looking someone in the eye and saying hello, versus keeping you head down and hiding.
It’s NOT fake it until you make it. It’s do it until you become it. @brittanybtv (CLICK TO TWEET)
No step is too small. Every victory, regardless of it’s size, is a step towards greatness. Each small step in the right direction adds up to something spectacular.
